In partnership with the Center for Wilderness Safety (CWS), Boy Scout Troop 51 is hosting First Aid Merit Badge class on Saturday, December 1, 2018.

First Aid Merit Badge classes
Saturday, December 1, 2018
8am – 5pm (includes 1 hour for lunch+)
Cost: $45
Location: Floris UMC (13600 Frying Pan Rd, Herndon, VA 20171)
Registration: https://www.wildsafe.org/courses/first-aid-merit-badge/ (class is limited to the first 30 people who register, so do not delay in registering)
+ – Lunch not provided.

Prerequisites:

  1. Come to class prepared to meet this merit badge requirement:

“1. Satisfy your counselor that you have current knowledge of all first-aid requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks.”

Whether or not you have those requirements signed-off in your handbook, you must have current knowledge.  Before the class, Scouts should re-read the First Aid chapter in the Boy Scout Handbook to refresh their knowledge.  Bring your Boy Scout Handbook to class.

  1. Come to class prepared to meet this merit badge requirement:

“5: Prepare a first-aid kit for your home.  Display and discuss its contents with your counselor.”

Hint: A first-aid kit for your home IS NOT the same as a personal first-aid kit.  Read the First Aid chapter of the Boy Scout Handbook to find out what should be in your home first-aid kit.

  1. Scouts are encouraged to purchase and bring to class a First Aid Merit Badge pamphlet (item # 620609 available at Scout Shops or at ScoutShop.org).  The pamphlet is a great resource to include in your home first-aid kit.
  2. Print out and bring a copy of CWS’s First Aid Merit Badge Participant Workbook. A link to the workbook is on this webpage: https://www.wildsafe.org/courses/first-aid-merit-badge/.  Bring a pen or pencil.
  3. Bring a merit badge application (aka, “blue card”) signed by your Scoutmaster.
  4. All participants must bring a fully-filled out and signed Activity Consent and Approval by Parents or Legal Guardians form.

Parents are encouraged to stay for the class and learn along with the Scouts!
