Troop 51 will be going on a trip to First Landing State Park (2500 Shore Drive, VA Beach VA 23451). We will depart on Friday, August 27 . Families will depart at their leisure and meet directly at the First Landing State Park. Check into the park is allowed up to 11:30pm. We will return Sunday, August 29. Activities on the trip will include: plop camping, beach activity, scout skills, cooking, optional water activities including kayaking and boat rescue (additional fees TBD). Pets are allowed (restrictions and additional fees apply-see website). Siblings younger than 11 years old are allowed .
Transportation will be on your own (or as arranged between families) and driving by private car.
All participants (Scouts and adults) should bring the 10 essentials. day-packs, camping gear, mess kit, beach gear, sunscreen), and dress appropriate to the weather (plan for rain). Depending on the size of attendance, we’ll organize into Patrols to help maintain social distancing. Scouts and adults are asked to wear a mask, maintain social distance, and follow other guidance to be provided by the Troop. Use of Scout’s electronic devices during the event for a Scouting purpose MUST be approved by the Scoutmaster. Cell coverage is weak or spotty. A current (within the last 12 months) BSA health & medical record (Part B) must be brought along and turned into the Adult volunteer. All medical forms will be returned with the scout at the conclusion. All adults attending must have completed BSA Youth Protection Training (YPT).
There is a 68.60 per site (up to two tents) fee for this trip and $17 for grub per person. We’ll do Friday Cracker Barrel, Saturday Breakfast and Dinner (Families can explore the beach and concessions for Lunch); and a Sunday breakfast.
