Troop 51 recently completed their annual NASCAR Campout at Richmond, VA from August 14 to August 16, 2026.
Friday (8/14)
The troop departed from Floris Elementary School at 2:15 PM and reached at about 5:30 PM.

Everyone set their tents up in the designated scout camping field and played some games.

The annual 250-lap truck race was originally scheduled at night, but it unfortunately got moved to Saturday due to consistent lightning. Soon, severe thunderstorms hit the area with heavy rain and made everyone drenched.
Saturday (8/15)
After the troop woke up, everyone ate breakfast, played some more games, and got ready for the truck race.

Then, the scouts had a great time at the truck race spanning around 2 hours, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM.

The troop also had a track walk scheduled at noon, but it got canceled due to the truck race happening at the same time.
After the truck race, a professional NASCAR car racer got interviewed and took photos with people from 2:00 – 2:30 PM. Then, the troop visited stalls and the fan experience from 2:45 to about 6:00 – 6:30 PM. There were real cars that people could get into and have a photo in, a driving simulator, and a reaction time game.

Finally, the troop attended and enjoyed the big annual 400-lap car race from 7:00 to around 9:30 – 10:00 PM.

Some scouts explored the fan zone inside the race track during the race and enjoyed looking at it from this unique view. One of our adults even got a chance to sign a block on the finish line.

When the race was over, the troop headed over to their campsite and slept.
